Advice for Students

Good universities will ensure that their students possess the required standard of English needed to complete an academic course. However, universities throughout the UK operate their own policies in relation to the use of academic proofreaders. Some univeristies allow their students to use commercial proofreaders, but others do not. Before you begin working with me, it is important that you check your university's policy on the use of proofreaders. Further, I will ask you to agree to my Code of Ethics, which is outlined on my page entitled Ethics. As stated on the Students page, I do not provide an essay writing service for students. I only accept work from students that has been researched and written by them.

In order to make the most of your working relationship with me, please bear in mind the following advice:

- Please leave enough time to work flexibly before your deadline date.

- State your preferred style of referencing, deadline date and word limits.

- Please don't 'move the goal posts' or submit new work at short notice.

- Submit work to me on the date you agreed, otherwise I will need change the send-back date.

- Submit a word count at quotation stage, and let me know in advance if this is subject to change.

- Tables, figures, references, and the bibliography are included in the word count.

- Please don't employ multiple proofreaders to work on one document at the same time.

Please note that I am not able to provide academic guidance to students in respect of their work or their course, neither am I allowed to offer an academic opinion about the quality of work students submit to me for proofreading.

I'm available to answer any questions you may have, or to respond to queries, between 9.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.
